Recorded files are not "normal" mp4 format, but they are viewable in VLC, and that's certainly easier than transferring video tapes. This camera has a flip out 2. 7" LCD screen and a 41x optical zoom lens, plus a "2000x digital zoom" which is just awful, so forget I even mentioned it. Do note that this is a standard definition camcorder, not HD. In
